Some 48hr rain and snow reports so far (as main storm moves in now)

May 6, 2025

05/06/25 8am: The main rain event is just moving into the northern front-range now and currently hammering southern CO as expected (second image is current radar).

Just starting to get some light rain in Westminster with most of the rain for Den/Bou still expected from mid-morning today through noon tomorrow. First lets take look at some notable rain and snow reports so far.

First image shows 72hr observed rainfall from MRMS. Great to see a wide swath of 1.0 to 2.5" of rain across southern CO with highest amounts over southern Sangres, southern SLV, south eastern San Juans and also near Canon City to southwest Springs.

Further north, for northern front-range, not much yet (Denver has been in the donut hole, but that will change today). But good to see 0.15" to 0.35" for some spots near Ft. Collins / Loveland already. Second image shows 48hr rain reports from CoCoRaHS.

Also good to see some snow in the mountains. Third image shows 72hr observed snowfall from NOHRSC. It shows 6-12" already for parts of the San Juans, Sangres, Sawatch and areas near Pikes Peak. Also good to see 1-4" for some of our local ski areas like Loveland and A-Basin.

Here are some notable 24hr snow reports:

Loveland: 4"
A-Basin: 3"
Winter Park: 3"
Breck: 1" (in last 48hrs)

Fort Garland 13.3 E (La Veta Pass): 4.8"
Crested Butte 6.2 N: 2.5"
Divide 5.2 SSW: 2.2"
Fairplay 2.7 WNW: 2.2"
Pagosa Springs 8.5 WNW: 2.2"
Antonito 9.0 WSW: 1.5"

Anyway, heavy rain for most of the front-range and adjacent mountains from 9am today through 12pm tomorrow. I'll have a forecast update later.

How are conditions in your neck of the woods this morning.
