About Seth Linden
My name is Seth Linden, and I’m the founder of the Seth’s Weather Report Facebook group, where I share forecasts and insights inspired by my lifelong passion for weather.
Growing up in Alamosa, Colorado, my fascination with weather began early. I spent countless hours watching The Weather Channel, eagerly tracking snowstorms headed for Wolf Creek Ski Area, where I could chase my love for skiing powder. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for my academic and professional journey in atmospheric sciences.
I earned a degree in Physics with a minor in Atmospheric Science from the University of Colorado Boulder, followed by a Master’s degree in Atmospheric Science from the same institution. My education opened the door to a rewarding career at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), where I began as a student assistant in 1999 and transitioned to a full-time Software Engineer role in 2001. Over the past 25 years, I’ve devoted my expertise to developing cutting-edge forecast systems that empower better decision-making for winter-weather events and beyond.
Currently, I lead the development of the Winter Weather Maintenance Decision Support System (MDSS) for Denver International Airport and oversee road weather systems for the Colorado Department of Transportation and other state agencies. My work involves leveraging advanced models and intelligent forecasting technologies to ensure safety and efficiency in transportation during severe weather.
I take great pride in crafting accurate and actionable forecasts, with a particular love for winter storms. Being outdoors, whether skiing powder in winter or enjoying the serenity of summer landscapes, continuously inspires my dedication to atmospheric sciences. My mission is to help others understand and prepare for the weather, while embracing its beauty and power.
