Snow Reports over the last 7-days. Warm in the mountains between waves.
Dec 29, 2024
12/29/24 10am: Alright time to get back into the weather / forecast groove after a great trip to Costa Rica. First lets look at current conditions and some notable snow reports over the last 24hr, 48hr and 7-days from the ski areas. Happy to see the snow stacking up in the mountains with much of the north-central mountains / ski areas picking up 12-24" in the last 7 days (since I have been gone).
We are currently between waves and its warm out there. I'm hearing reports from friends this morning that is there was freezing rain / sleet at the base of Vail this morning with a temp of 38 degs (not good). And here in Denver its also very warm, already 46 degs at 9:45am at end of Dec.
From what I'm hearing, the snow that fell in the mountains last night was wet and heavy but surfy in spots (especially where it snowed more near A-Basin / Loveland Pass and near WP / Berthoud Pass and near Steamboat those areas picked up > 6" of new snow), otherwise 1-5" of new snow at the ski areas.
Here are some notable 24hr, 48hr and 7-day reports from the ski areas this morning.

Another round of moderate / heavy snow coming up for the north-central mountains from tonight trough tomorrow night and it will be turning very windy as well (wind-gusts of 40-80 mph, strongest over the Front Range Mountains).
It will also be turning very windy along the Front Range urban corridor (Den/Bou) tomorrow. There is a High Wind Watch in place for tomorrow: wind-gusts of 60-90 mph expected....
I'll have more on the forecast next.
