Snow reports from this last winter-storm that impacted southern CO
Jan 31, 2025
01/31/25 8:30am: Morning, Happy Friday! Here is a look at 48hr snow-totals from this last winter storm that mostly impacted southern CO.
Certainly some surprise totals in spots. Areas just north and east of Colorado Springs were under the persistent deformation band yesterday with very heavy snow: 6-12" from northeast Springs (near Briargate to Black Forest). Also good to see 4-6" near/west of Pueblo.
Overall highest amounts were near La Veta Pass (west of Walsenburg) with nearly 15" there. Also good see 8-10" in Crestone where my Mom lives (and 2-3" in Alamosa where I grew up).
In the mountains heaviest amounts were near Telluride and Silverton with 10" there. Also good to see 14" at Taos Ski Area in New Mexico.
First image shows 48hr observed snowfall from NOHRSC. Second image shows notable CoCoRaHS town reports (48hrs) and ski area reports. Images 3 and 4 are CoCoRaHS map snippets.
In terms of the forecast, snow moves back into the north-central mountains by tomorrow mid-morning, with heavier snow from 5pm Sat through 12pm Sun. Also some very strong wind expected across much of the mountains tomorrow (westerly wind-gusts of 30-60mph). Refer to my post from last night for all the forecast details, I'll have more tonight.
