Snow reports and look at the current storm system (Wed into Thu)
Mar 19, 2025
03/19/25 8:35am: Morning, interesting storm system so far. The main upper-level moved quickly to the east last night (and overall tracked a bit farther south than models were showing). You can see it spinning over east-central KS this morning. Still some snow ongoing over parts of the front-range (from the Palmer Divide south) and over parts of the eastern plains this morning. Also some light snow ongoing over the mountains.
Mountains snow totals were a bit more hit or miss with less than expected near Vail and BC but more than expected near Telluride and Silverton (14" at both those ski areas). And for the heart of the north-central mountains snow totals are mostly in range with 9" at Winter Park for example and 7" at Loveland...and there is more snow to come today.
First here are some notable 24hr reports from the ski areas (these are not final totals as it will still be snowing in the mountains today):

Lastly, high-res models like HRRR show snow continuing today, slowly ending after 7pm this evening. Looks like 1-4" of additional snowfall for the local ski areas with highest amounts near the Cont. Divide.
On the front-range (Den/Bou) just cold, cloudy and windy this morning.
Next, weaker storm system arrives in the mountains on Thu night with more snow. For the north-central mountains / I-70 corridor looks like on/off light snow from about 8pm Thu through 8pm Fri: additional 2-6" for the ski areas.
First image is current, regional satellite loop showing the low spinning over KS. Images 2 and 3 are current views of the Telluride snow-stake and Winter Park snow-stake. Fourth image shows a map of CoCoRaHS snow reports for the towns. Fifth image shows forecast additional snowfall from 5am this morning through 5am Thu from latest HRRR.
