Snow reports and a look at the Fri/Sat wave (moving in now)
Apr 4, 2025
04/04/25 8:40am: Morning, Happy Friday. Well yesterday's storm system was pretty weak overall but still some decent snow / precip totals in spots. And the next storm system is right on the heels with the cold-front and snow moving into the northern front-range (near Ft. Collins now), more on that below, but first some notable snow reports.
In the mountains it was pretty much a bust for most of northern CO in terms of snowfall amounts (compared to forecast) but at least southern CO / San Juans picked up some heavier snow (with > 10" at Wolf Creek, Purgatory and Powderhorn / Grand Mesa). On a side note apparently Telluride has not cleared their snowstake (so only 3" there).
Here are 48hr totals:
Wolf Creek: 17”
Powderhorn: 10”
Purgatory: 10”
Breck: 5”
Crested Butte: 5”
Eldora: 4”
Loveland: 4”
Echo Mtn: 4”
Steamboat: 3”
Vail: 3”
Winter Park: 3”
Telluride: 3”
A-Basin: 2”
Beaver Creek: 2”
Keystone: 2”
Snowmass: 2”
Silverton: 2”
Aspen Highlands: 1”
Copper: 1”
Ski Cooper: 1”
Sunlight: 1”
On the front-range, at least much of Denver and the southern and southwestern suburbs near the Palmer Divide and foothills picked up 1-3" of snow. North of Denver not much. At my house: 0.3" of snow with 0.10" of liquid, this brings my seasonal totals since Oct 1st to 40.1" of snow with 3.98" of liquid (only 60% of average snowfall for this time of year).
Here are some notable 24hr snowfall reports from CoCoRaHS this morning:

Saguache 0.4 E: 1.6”
Buena Vista 0.6 WNW: 1.5”
Vail 0.9 WNW: 1.4”
Next wave is coming in now. Latest radar (image 3) shows some snow and the cold-front moving into Ft. Collins / Loveland areas now. For the rest of Den/Bou: a chance for light snow / snow showers primarily from 11am-11pm today: Trace-3" of snow (with up to 5" in parts of the foothills). Best chances west of I-25.
For the north-central mountains another round of light snow primarily from 1pm today to 1am Sat. Generally 1-5" for the ski areas with highest amounts over the Front Range mountains (along/east of the Cont. Divide)
Southern CO including parts of the eastern San Juans (WC), Sangres and southern front-range near Trinidad will also get some heavier snow from 4pm today through 10am Sat: 6-12" for the higher terrain down there (even Alamosa / Valley will get 1-3").
First image is current view from top of Wolf Creek. Second image shows CoCoRaHS snow reports over Den/Bou and the foothills. Image 3 is current radar over the state. Image 4 shows forecast additional snowfall over the next 30hrs from HRRR (6am this morning to 12pm Sat), gives general idea but take amounts with grain of salt.
