Rain reports over the last couple days. One more active weather day before pattern dries out for the weekend

Jun 25, 2025

06/25/25 8:45am: I'm loving this cooler weather! We have one more active day in this current pattern. Another morning where its cloudy, cool and somewhat socked in on the front-range with some rain showers ongoing over eastern CO and a few weak showers in the mountains (image 2 is current local satellite / surface overlay). Another good chance for afternoon storms for the Front Range and the eastern half of the state today (less west, your moisture will come next week).

Anyway, great to see some more heavy rain in spots yesterday (and a bit on Monday). First image below shows 48hr rainfall from MRMS. Heavy rain over much of southeast / eastern CO with more limited amounts in/around Den/Bou. And very little for the north-central mountains and western CO.

Here are some notable 24hr rain reports from CoCoRaHS (third image shows top 24hr reports across the state):

Wray 19 NNE: 2.67"
Yuma 4.6 N: 1.51"
Colorado Springs 5.0 NNE: 1.21"
Parker 2.7 E: 1.08"
Foxfield 3.7 ESE: 0.98"
Longmont 2.6 NW: 0.94"
Centennial 6.8 ENE: 0.92"
Sterling 3.6 NNE: 0.84"

At my house in Westminster only 0.06" over the last 2 days but at least its only 65 degs.

For today, rain showers and thunderstorms will first develop over the mountains by 12pm-1pm today. For the north-central mountains: scattered storms from 12pm-5pm, best coverage from Vail / Summit Co. east and especially over the Front Range mountains after 1pm.

For Den/Bou and the front-range another good chance for some scattered thunderstorms primarily from 1pm-6pm (best chances for the line of storms to come through will be 2pm-5pm). After 5pm most of the thunderstorm action will shift to eastern CO. Some heavy rain and maybe a little bit of hail in spots this afternoon (including the front-range). Image 4 shows forecast radar over the next 24hrs from latest HRRR.

Then the weather pattern dries out and warms up for Thu-Sat, with seasonably warm temps and very little storm chances across the entire state.

Moisture starts to return on Sun and Mon and that will bring back better afternoon storm chances, starting Sun and especially Mon of next week.

Then a monsoon surge likely from Tue-Sat next week as I mentioned last night: much better storm chances for the mountains and western CO. I'll be on the east coast.

Enjoy this last cloudy / cool day for a bit!
