Rain reports over the last 2 days (heavy rain over eastern CO, dry over western CO)

Jul 12, 2025

07/12/25 9am: Morning, happy Saturday. Cool and cloudy over the northern front-range behind yesterday's cold front which produced some good rainfall in spots over eastern CO. The 48hr observed rainfall map below (image 1) shows the stark dichotomy between the eastern half of the state with all the rain and the western half of the state with basically no rain in the last 2 days.

Several spots from near the front-range to the eastern plains picked up 0.50" to 1.50" of rainfall with over 3" near the CO/KS border. Near Den/Bou proper it was a bit more spotty, with only 0.10" at my house over the last 2 days but just 15 minutes north a whopping 1.50-2.0" of rain near Lafayette as the core of that strong storm moved through.

Here are some notable 24hr rain reports from CoCoRaHS (third image shows top 24hr reports across the state):

Vernon 6.4 WSW (Yuma co): 3.20"
Arapahoe 8.4 NNE (Cheyenne co): 2.20"
Wray 5.7 SSW: 1.94"
Lafayette 2.5 NW: 1.93"
Boulder 6.0 ESE: 1.63"
Fort Morgan 0.4 SW: 1.52"
Las Animas 8.1 NE: 1.20"
Niwot 2.2 SW: 0.98"
Broomfield 3.2 NNE: 0.90"
Colorado Springs 8.9 NNE: 0.72"
Conifer 3.5 NW: 0.67"
Longmont 2.8 E: 0.27"
Denver 3.5 SE: 0.20"
Westminster 1.1 SW (my house): 0.07"

For the rest of today, clouds along the front-range will slowly dissipate but give way to a cooler day (highs in the upper 70s / low 80s for Den/Bou).

Then most of the thunderstorm action will be south and east of a Hoosier Pass to Evergreen line, especially from near Colorado Springs south to SLV, Sangres and parts of southeast CO: 2pm-9pm.

Further north for Den/Bou and the adjacent front-range mountains (and north-central mountains) only a very slight chance for an isolated storm after 2pm today.

How much rain did you get the last 2 days?
