Rain over southeast CO this morning will spread north into the foothills and mountains by this afternoon

May 27, 2026

05/27/26 8am: Good morning. We have some rain over southeast CO this morning as expected with some moderate rain from south of Pueblo to Trinidad (also some rain near Springs as well), here in Den/Bou mostly cloudy. First image is current composite radar over the state.

Some of this rain will rotate north today but most of the meaningful rain will be around the edges of Den/Bou.

First good to see some rain yesterday across parts of the mountains and southern CO. Areas near the Cont. Divide did pick up 0.10" to 0.25" with higher amounts over southeast CO near the Sangres (where its raining now). Second image shows 24hr observed rainfall from MRMS.

Looking at the forecast (3rd image shows the forecast radar for today, over the next 48hrs), Some of the rain will spread up across the Palmer Divide and into the foothills west of Den/Bou by 12pm today and continue into the afternoon (areas like Castle Rock to Conifer to Evergreen to Idaho Springs to Nederland will see some rain). On/off rain showers for the front-range foothills and mountains from 12pm-11pm today.

Rain will also spread into parts of the north-central mountains, mostly from Summit Co east, favoring the front-range mountains from 12pm-9pm today, turning wet in spots.

For Den/Bou proper a chance for isolated to scattered weak thunderstorms and rain showers mostly from 3pm-9pm, but it will be hit or miss and many parts of the metro area will stay dry (a bit too capped right here in town).

Rain and thunderstorms for the east / southeast plains (east of DIA) from 3pm-9pm as well. So mostly around the edges of Den/Bou.

Looking ahead for tomorrow, back to a drier day overall: just a chance for isolated storms over the north-central mountains (and front-range mountains) from 2pm-10pm tomorrow, again favoring areas along/east of the Cont. Divide.

Not much for Den/Bou tomorrow.

Looking ahead, mostly just garden variety afternoon storms on Fri, Sat and Sun, nothing too major. Just a few storms in spots, favoring the mountains. I'll have more on that later.

How are conditions in your neck of the woods this morning?
