Quick look a potentially impactful storm next Mon-Wed
Apr 30, 2025
04/30/25 2:10pm: Heads up: I'm tracking potentially a large and impactful spring storm system for next week, slated to impact CO primarily from Mon-Wed (05/05 - 05/07). High uncertainty at the moment and lots of details to work out. But could be significant rain/snow in spots (maybe even some snow for Den/Bou).
As of now impacts start Mon afternoon (rounds of rain/snow showers) with the biggest impacts for the front-range (and northern mountains) likely on Tue (05/06). Heavy rain for Den/Bou maybe some snow. Looks like snow for the foothills above 7k ft and could be significant.
Rain and snow may continue over the front-range and adjacent mountains next Wed into Thu as well (05/07 - 05/08) but that part is really uncertain.
We ain't done with the wild weather yet! I'll have more later.
In the meantime some good rain showers / weak thunderstorms developing north of Ft. Collins and in the northern mountains now.
First image shows the potential pattern from Sun-Fri next week from latest ECMWF. Second image shows forecast precip-type/rate and MSLP valid next Tue at 12pm, take with big grain of salt as details will change.
