Numerous thunderstorms expected in spots Tue, some rain reports from Mon

07/22/25 8:30am: Alright we have an active weather day in store especially for parts of the front-range and south-central CO as a short-wave combines with some monsoon moisture.
First good to see some rain across parts of the mountains and southern CO yesterday. Images 3 and 4 show 24hr rain reports across the state. Here are some notable reports:

Westcliffe 8.4 WNW: 0.63"
Woodland Park 3.2 S: 0.52"
Colorado Springs 6.8 SE: 0.38"
Alamosa 6.6 NW: 0.33"
Pagosa Springs 4.5 W: 0.30"
Limon 7.8 W: 0.23"
Vail 0.9 WNW: 0.22"
Montrose 3.2 SSE: 0.18"
Forecast:
For the north-central and especially south-central mountains, scattered to numerous thunderstorms from 1pm today through 1am Wed (best chances 3pm-9pm). Most of the action will be east / southeast of line from Winter Park to Vail to Montrose (including Summit Co etc). Heaviest rain expected over parts of southern Sawatch (Collegiate Range), parts of western and eastern San Juans, Sangres and also areas towards Pikes Peak after 3pm.
For Den/Bou and the front-range: scattered storms from 2pm this afternoon through 2am Wed (best chances 4pm-10pm). Best coverage today will be from Boulder south and east and especially from Palmer Divide to Colorado Springs to Pueblo (southern front-range will be favored). Heavy rain in spots. Rain lingers from PD south through tomorrow am.
Heavy rain expected for the eastern plains from 4pm this evening through 3am tomorrow morning.
Looking ahead to tomorrow: Front Range mountains and foothills will be favored for storms. For the north-central and front-range mountains scattered storms tomorrow from 12pm-7pm, best coverage from Summit Co. east (favoring Front Range mountains above 8k ft)
For Den/Bou and the front-range tomorrow (Wed) isolated to scattered storms from 2pm-8pm, best chances for strong / severe storms will be along/east of I-25 after 4pm tomorrow.
On Thu, pretty similar to Wed, a decent chance for scattered storms across the mountains, favoring front-range mountains 1pm-8pm. Slight chances for Den/Bou on Thu.
Then it dries out and warms up for Fri-Sun, and in fact very hot temps expected again by Sat/Sun (high temps may get near 100 degs for Denver by Sun again).
