More heavy rain for southern CO in the last 24hrs as the main low moves in today.

09/30/26 7:45am: Heavy rain ongoing over southern CO this morning as the main low moves in. Already some big 24hr totals in spots down there (on top of all the rain from previous 3 days).

I know that much of northern CO has mostly missed out on the more significant rain (although Denver has gotten some), but is amazing how much rain has fallen in southern CO the last 2 weeks: some areas have picked up 5-8" of rain this month (later we will look at month-to-date totals).

Anyway, below I show 24hr observed rainfall from MRMS, along with top 24hr reports from CoCoRaHS, a map snippet showing the reports. And the current composite radar showing the heavy rain ongoing over southern / southeast CO this morning.

Already 0.60" to 1.20" in the last 24hrs for parts of southern CO, with much more to come.

Rain will continue over southern CO throughout today into early Thu, heaviest, most consistent rain wil be south of a Aspen to Leadville to Colorado Sprigs line.

Some rain showers will move in parts of north-central CO: I-70 mountain corridor from now (8am) through 8pm this evening.

For Den/Bou some rain showers mostly from Denver south from 12pm-10pm. Some minor rain amounts from Denver to the Palmer Divide and in the foothills. But little to no rain accum north of Denver.

Storm clears out early Thu. Tomorrow we will also look at 72hr totals (those are going to be huge for southern CO!)

Just be happy that at least half the state is getting tons of rain! Every bit helps and will help the overall statewide drought and water situation.
