04/01/25 7:50am: Happy April 1st!...hopefully mother nature isn't fooling around with this current storm system lol....some low snow reports early this morning, but don't be fooled the heavy snow is still on its way. In fact current radar below shows the main wave is just moving into the mountains now. Heaviest snow will be from 9am this morning through 6am Wed (heaviest this afternoon / evening as the coldest air and better west/northwest flow comes in).
First here are some notable 24hr reports this morning (with some current estimates)
Loveland: 4" (5")
Winter Park: 3" (4")
Silverton: 3"
Wolf Creek: 3"
Aspen Mountain: 2" (6")
Snowmass: 2" (4")
Crested Butte: 2" (3")
A-Basin: 2" (3")
Beaver Creek: 1" (3")
Vail: 1" (3")
Copper: 1" (2")
Eldora: 1" (2")
Breck: 0" (2")
Keystone: 0" (1")
All of the north central mountains are under a Winter Weather Advisory through 6am Wed. Latest high-res models, like HRRR show an additional 7-14" at the ski areas by tomorrow mid-morning.
Here is what NWS had to say about it: "Widespread mountain snow showers in the high country today & tonight with 6 to 14 inches of snowfall and wind gusts up to 50 mph. As a result, hazardous travel conditions are expected. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 6 AM Wednesday.... For the plains, a Red Flag Warning will be in effect from Noon to 7:00 P.M. today for Southern Lincoln and Southeastern Elbert Counties due to low relative humidity and wind gusts to 55 mph. Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire."
For Den/Bou and the front-range not much precip with this wave. Just cloudy and turning windy this afternoon. A chance for a few rain/snow showers between 6pm tonight to 6am tomorrow morning, best chances near/along the Palmer Divide.
But looking ahead Den/Bou and the front-range will have two good chances for snow coming up. First chance from about 12pm Thu through 6am Fri (Trace-3" in spots). Then an even better chance from 6pm Fri through 12pm Sat: 1-5" possible (more in the foothills). Heads up Sat is looking cold and snowy on the front-range.
The mountains will also get more round of light / moderate snow, another round on Thu mid-morning to Fri morning (1-5" additional) and even more snow from Fri afternoon through Sat afternoon: 5-10" additional, so it will be stacking up in spots by the weekend.
I'll be heading up to the mountains later for some skiing tomorrow.
