Aug 31, 2026

08/31/26 8:45am: Morning its Monday, last day of meteorological summer! But look at those impressive 48hr rain totals across parts of northwest CO and the mountains.

Much of northwest CO from near Grand Junction to Rifle to Glenwood to Meeker to Craig, Flat Tops and towards Steamboat have picked up 0.75" to 1.50" of rain in several areas (with some spots > 2"). Much, much needed rain.

Also great to see 0.25" to 0.60" for areas near Vail and Winter Park with a bit less for Summit Co.

And some more hit or miss rain on the front-range with an additional 0.10" to 0.20" in spots yesterday (with 2 day totals of 0.20" to 0.40" in spots).\

Here are some notable, top 24hr reports from CoCoRaHS this morning:

For today more heavy rain in spots as we have short-wave trough that will move across the state from southwest to northeast (already some rain showers moving into southwest CO / San Juans now)

For the central mountains rounds of rain and thunderstorms from 1pm today through 2am Tue, best chances 3pm-9pm. Some snow above 13k ft across the highest peaks tonight.

For Den/Bou and the front-range: initially some isolated storms from 2pm-5pm, but then a better chance for scattered to numerous storms from 5pm today to 1am Tue as the main wave moves through. Turning wet in spots this evening (best chance 5pm-10pm).

I'll have more details soon.

How much rain have you picked up the last couple days? At my house only 0.04" total the last few days, but happy that other areas have picked up significant rain.
