Forecast details for the active weather expected today (Thu) through Sat

Jul 10, 2025

07/10/25 8:45am: Ah that cloud-cover is nice this morning and even some rain showers in spots, especially across the mountains...its a sign of an active weather day to come this afternoon and tomorrow.

There were already some nice thunderstorms that moved across the mountains earlier this morning (3am-6am) and few weak rain showers on the front-range in response to a leading short-wave (as expected).

The main short-wave will come through this afternoon and behind this a cold-front will move down the front-range tomorrow morning. We will have an upslope regime in place for tomorrow and it will be much cooler especially for Den/Bou with good storm chances.

For Den/Bou and the front-range a few weak rain showers this morning, then a better chance for scattered thunderstorms between 1pm-5pm, a few stronger storm in spots. Best coverage will be south / east of Denver: near/along the Palmer Divide and along/east of I-25, especially after 2pm.

For the north-central mountains: initially some rain showers / weak storms over northwest CO. Then a chance for isolated to scattered thunderstorms from 12pm-5pm, best chances from Summit Co east and especially near/east of the Cont. Divide (Front Range mountains will be favored).

Strongest storms today are expected over eastern CO (east of a Greeley to DIA line) from 2pm-8pm, heavy rain, small hail and wind expected in spots (hail likely won't be that big).

A cold-front will move down the front-range (and across parts of eastern CO) tomorrow morning after 9am...it will be much cooler tomorrow with high in the 80s and more cloudy in the morning. We will be in a moist uplsope regime on the front-range on Fri.

So for Den/Bou an even better chance for storms tomorrow afternoon from 2pm-8pm, best coverage in the foothills initially then the eastern plains later. Could be some stronger storms in a few spots (heavy rain, small hail)

In the mountains on Friday, most of the action again will be further east (from Summit east again), mostly over the Front Range mountains from 1pm-7pm (favoring upper foothills and mountains near IPW/RMNP, etc)

Later tomorrow afternoon, after 3pm the focus for storms will be over the southern front-range / southeast CO with some strong storm in spots.

Back to more normal summer weather on Saturday but we will stick with a chance for afternoon storms in most areas (after 2pm on Sat), it will remain relatively cool on Sat (low 80s for Den/Bou, 60s/70s for mountains).
