09/25/25 8am: Its a cool and crisp fall morning, but its going to be a beautiful day! Chilly out there this morning after some strong radiational cooling last night, especially in the mountains. Basically not a cloud in the sky and you can see the snow-covered peaks on the satellite image below.

Anyway, going to be a great day to be in the mountains to take in the fall colors. Overall good weather through Saturday for most of the state, then a weak storm system will move through on Sun/Mon.
Here are some forecast details for the weekend and beyond that I posted last night.
----------------------------------
Overall, I'm seeing a warm but fairly active weather pattern. I'm not seeing any big intrusions of cold air (or big snowstorms) but some rain (and snow up high at times).
I'm watching a large / disorganized upper-level low that will move out of southwest AZ and then slowly up across CO on Sun into Mon....so that will be our next best chances for more widespread rain (and some snow above 11k). The low falls apart as it moves across CO so not a big storm system and there is uncertainty in the details.
Here are the main points looking ahead
Dry and pleasant across the state tomorrow
Just a tad bit more moisture moves into southwest CO on Fri and will bring a slight chance for weak storms to the San Juans: 12pm-6pm, further north not much (but more clouds). So overall nice on Fri to be outside
As the low starts moving northeast, some deeper moisture moves into southern CO on Sat, so a better chance for scattered storms over the San Juans starting Sat am (after 7am), some snow above 11k
But for the rest of CO including north-central mountains and front-range on Sat, pretty nice again, just more cloudy in the afternoon, minimal precip chances
Then the disorganized low will move across the state from southwest to northeast on Sun into Mon. Biggest impacts from that storm will be from 12pm sun to 12pm Mon
So a much better chance for storms across all of the mountains on Sun after 12pm (rain moves into southwest CO Sun am). For the north-central mountains scattered, stronger storms on Sun pm
For Den/Bou and the front-range also a better chance for scattered storms and turning cooler again from 3pm Sun through 3am Mon
Probably more scattered afternoon storm on Mon (09/29) but nothing too major (some residual moisture behind that Sun/Mon storm)
Then looks pretty dry and warm again from Tue-Fri (09/30 to 10/03).
Then potentially a colder / stronger storm system from Fri pm through Sat pm (10/03 to 10/04) but that is so far out, uncertainty is very high
Lastly, speaking of fall colors photos. In terms of posting fall colors photos to the group, lets keep it unique and awesome! I want to see high-quality photos if possible of unique areas (or unique and rad photos that show cool views, etc).....I especially love those fire and ice shots with leaves and snow-covered peaks. Since its primarily a weather group, just want to keep it interesting for everyone (so don't take it personally if we don't approve some posts, we want to keep it interesting and not completely drowned out the weather forecasts lol).
In general from now over the next two weeks (Sep 25th through Oct 12th) will be peak fall colors in most areas across the state. This weekend will be really good (aside from the crowds).
That is all for now. I'm actually heading back up to the mountains later today for some more hikes and bikes, to take in that fire and ice! I need more fall colors lol, its fleeting and Its just too good right now.
