Big time 72hr rain totals across southern CO.
Oct 1, 2026
10/01/26 9:05am: Morning, happy first day of October! Some insane 72hr and 24hr totals from southern CO this morning and its still raining over southeast CO right now.
Parts of extreme southeast CO, near Pritchett (northeast of Campo) picked up nearly 3.7" of rain in just the last 24hrs (and its still raining there). Areas near Lamar and La Junta picked up 2.50" to 3.00" in the last 24hrs.
Looking at 4 days totals from CoCoRaHS some spots south of Pagosa Springs have picked up 5.6" of rain in the last 4 days! Much of the San Juans and southern CO picked up 2-4" of rain in the last 4 days! And of course second highest totals on the southeast plains (from all the heavy rain in the last 36 hours).
Up here in Den/Bou not nearly as much but at least some rain in spots. Parts of south Denver, Centennial, south Aurora, near Parker, Palmer Divide near Castle Rock and parts of the foothills (near Conifer) did pick up 0.05" to 0.25" of rain in the last few days (mostly yesterday). North of Denver nothing (at my house like 0.02" total).

Anyway, rain will continue over southeast CO through 4 pm today and then it will clear out.
Back to sunny and dry weather for the next 10 days (see my post from last night).
Later we will look at September rain totals: was a wet Sep for much of the state except for part of northeast CO / north of Denver. But even Denver officially measured 2.22" at the airport for the month and parts of south Denver picked up 1-3" of rain for the month. And of course parts of the San Juans and southern CO picked up a whopping 8-12" of rain for the month! So if it was really dry at your place, well you were just unlucky (even at my place > 1" for the month).

How much rain did you get the last 3-4 days?
