Big rain totals over the last 3 days: 72hr and 24hr rainfall below
Aug 27, 2025
08/27/25 8am: So happy to see the rain come through yesterday with some big totals in spots over the last 3 days! The forecast has panned out nicely. Yesterday and last night was a soaker in many areas and its still raining this morning (with more showers moving through parts of the front-range right now).
There was some big-time rainfall yesterday just east of Denver: some areas east/southeast of Aurora and towards Bennett picked up a whopping 3.20-3.80" of rain, insane. Further north closer to Boulder and Longmont 0.75" to 1.20" of rain yesterday. The rest of Denver picked up generally 0.10" to 0.50". At my house in Westminster I measured 0.27" in the last 24hrs and this gives me 0.43" in the last 4 days.
Below I first show 72hr observed rainfall from MRMS, second image shows 24hr rainfall. Third image shows top 24hr reports from CoCoRaHS.
The 72hr map shows that much of the southern front-range from Colorado Springs to Salida to Canon City to Pueblo and down towards Trinidad and east have picked up a whopping 2.5-4.0" of rain in the last 3 days (4-5" of rain in a few spots in the last 5 days).
Here are some notable 24hr totals from CoCoRaHS:
Bennett 10.8 SSW: 3.83"
Aurora 10.0 SE: 3.20"
Longmont 8.2 ESE: 1.35"
Boncarbo 4.8 ESE (Trinidad): 1.34"
Pueblo 6.3 SSW: 1.05"
Norwood 0.1 W (near Telluride): 0.98"
Boulder 4.7 E: 0.89"
Gunnison 0.2 NW: 0.80"
Rollinsville 0.1 WNW: 0.75"
Westcliffe 8.7 ENE: 0.75"
Aurora 2.1 W: 0.71"
Estes Park 1.7 WNW: 0.68"
Nederland 5.8 E: 0.66"
Durango 0.9 W: 0.64"
Fountain 1.0 NNE: 0.63"
Evergreen 6.5 WSW: 0.62"
Glenwood Springs 5.9 S: 0.59"
Denver 6.3 SSE: 0.60"
Westminster 1.1 SW (my house): 0.27"
Another active day on tap, similar to yesterday but not quite as wet.
Initially this morning, some weak rain showers moving through parts of the front-range.
Then for the north-central mountains: scattered storms from 11am-9pm, best chances after 2pm today. Maybe a few more rain showers overnight into Thu am.
For Den/Bou and the front-range: scattered storms or a line of storms likely from 2pm-6pm....it will be a bit conditional on if some of these low clouds can break apart and we get enough sun to destabilize the atmosphere (but rain seems likely this afternoon, especially after 3pm).
We will remain in an active pattern through Fri before the atmosphere dries out and warms up some. Looks drier with closer to seasonal temps for the weekend.
How much rain did you get in the last 24hrs, last 3-4 days? I'm loving this weather pattern!, you?
