Approaching storm on track to bring snow Sat night through Sun night
Jan 3, 2025
01/03/25 10:45pm: I'll have much more in the morning, but the forecast for the approaching storm system remains on track. Much of the north-central mountains are under a Winter Weather Advisory from 3pm Sat to 3pm Sun (more light snow into Mon as well)
Most of the snow for the north-central mountains / I-70 mountain corridor will be from 12pm Sat to 8pm Sun with light snowing linger into Mon am, generally 6-12" with highest amounts west of Vail Pass
Den/Bou and the front-range will have a chance for snow from about 5pm Sat through 5am Sun....best chances will be along/east of I-25. Metro area maybe Trace-3" in spots. Eastern Plains: 2-8" in spots
First image shows current Winter Weather Advisories. Second image is shows forecast total snowfall from now through 5am Mon from latest 00z GFS, it has been consistent as of lately but take amounts with grain of salt (it broad brushes the mountains/valley features). I'll have more tomorrow am.
