Active weather Tue, hot by Fri-Sat, more active next week

Jun 16, 2025

06/16/25 9am: Morning its Monday. We have some weather to talk about. Models show a stronger cold-front impacting northern / northeast CO on Tue bringing a better chance for severe storms in spots tomorrow. Prior to this an initial, weaker front will move into northeast CO this afternoon and set the stage for a few storms (but further east). The bigger weather day will be Tue.

Looking ahead a I see a hot pattern this weekend giving way to a more active late June pattern next week (June 23rd-27th).

Here are some main points for today and tomorrow and beyond:

  • For today, initially hot for the front-range (Den/Bou) and the mountains.

  • An initial cool front moves into northeast CO and the northern front-range after 2pm (mostly a wind-shift and some better moisture moving in)...this will give a chance for some isolated weak storms for Den/Bou and the front-range: 1pm-5pm.

  • The strongest storms today are expected in the northeast corner of the state and towards NE in the 4pm-10pm timeframe (image 2 shows where best chances will be: yellows to orange)

  • Little to no storms for the mountains today.

  • The stronger cold-front moves down the front-range tonight into tomorrow, ushering in some cooler temps clouds in the am and then better storm chances tomorrow afternoon (cloudier over front-range and eastern CO tomorrow am)

  • For tomorrow (Tue) for the front-range (Den/Bou) a chance for scattered, stronger storms from 1pm-6pm, best chances will be from Denver north and east, along/east of I-25

  • Strong storms expected over northeast CO (east of DIA) from 2pm-9pm tomorrow: some hail, wind and a few isolated tornadoes in spots (image 3 shows this)

  • For the mountains, most of the action on Tue will be along/east of the Cont. Divide: Front Range mountains will have a chance for isolated to scattered storms from 12pm-6pm, best chances east

  • Looking ahead, turning very hot for Fri-Sun, high temps near 100 degs for Den/Bou on Fri and Sat, 80s for the mountains.

  • Then models show a more active jet-stream pattern with a couple troughs pushing in from the northwest and some cooler air impacting CO from next Mon-Fri at times (June 23rd-27th) with better storm chances on each afternoon
