Active weather over next 3 days (Wed-Fri) before the pattern dries out for the weekend
Jun 4, 2025
06/04/25 8:45am: We will have 3 more active weather days before the pattern dries out. Good chances for late afternoon storms today and especially tomorrow (Thu) and maybe an early round on Fri. Models show several more short-waves moving through.
First good to see more rain in the last 24hrs. I measured an additional 0.13" at my house, bringing my 48hr total to 0.65". Rain reports show 0.05" to 0.20" of additional rain across the front-range with highest amounts near Boulder (where > 1.5" fell in the last 2 days).
For today, a short-wave is moving up from the southwest (you can see this on the current satellite image below). This will first bring rounds of rain and thunderstorms to southern / southwest CO from 12pm today through 3am Thu (San Juans to Elks to Collegiate range will be favored initially).
For the north-central mountains (Eagle, Summit, Grand, ClearCreek, counties, etc): isolated to scattered storms from 3pm today through 3am Thu, best chances along/east of the Cont. Divide: Front Range mountains will be favored and also from Hoosier Pass south. For the mountains tomorrow a good chance for scattered storms from 12pm-11pm, turning wet in spots. Then on Friday another chance for storms: 11am-4pm
For Den/Bou and the front-range isolated to scattered storms today from 4pm-10pm, best chances around the edges of Denver: near/along the Palmer Divide initially, foothills and then after 5pm along/east of I-25. For the front-range tomorrow a better chance for scattered storms from 1pm-10pm (best chances after 3pm), best coverage in/near the foothills but parts of Den/Bou will be likely getting some Thu. Then for Fri maybe a line of storms between 12pm-3pm (as the last short-wave moves through).
Looking ahead drier and warmer across the state for Saturday and Sunday (slight chances for afternoon storms each day), more on that later.
First image loop shows forecast radar over the next 48hrs (6am this morning to 6am Fri) from latest HRRR. Second image is current regional satellite: socked in on front-range and you can see the next short-wave moving up from the southwest. Third image shows forecast total liquid precip over the next 48hrs (from now through 6am Fri) from latest HRRR, take with grain of salt but shows where heaviest rain may fall.
