04/09/25 8am: Morning, we do have some weather to talk for today and the end of the weekend. Going to be very windy in many areas today, hot for Fri-Sat. Then a cold-front with some rain/snow and wind expected for parts of northern CO on Sun into Mon. Here are some main points:
Windy today across both the north-central mountains and the northern front-range with northwest wind-gusts of 30-60mph, strongest along/east of the Cont. Divide: Front Range mountains and foothills
All of northeast CO including Den/Bou/Ft.Collins and the eastern plains is under a Red Flag Warning from 11am-7pm today for strong wind, warm temps and low RH (no burning)
Slightly cooler tomorrow (mid-60s for Den/Bou, 40s/50s for mountains) with some wind continuing over the Front Range Mountains (mostly above 9k ft)
Then very warm for Fri and Sat with near record high temps for Den/Bou on Sat with high temps around 85 degs (some 90s on the eastern plains).
A cold-front with rain/snow showers will move into northwest CO on Sun morning, across the mountains Sun afternoon and across the front-range (Den/Bou) on Sun night into Mon
For the north-central mountains a round of gusty snow / snow-showers expected from 9am Sun to 9am Mon...best chances for some snow will be from 9pm Sun to 6am Mon: 1-4" of snow possible for some of the ski areas, favoring the Front Range mountains (Loveland, Berthoud, Jones Passes, IPW, RMNP, etc)
For Den/Bou/Ft.Collins and the front-range initially a chance for some rain showers on Sun afternoon 12pm-9pm. Then a chance for rain/snow or all snow from about 9pm Sun to 9am Mon: Trace-3" of snow for the urban corridor, with best chances near the Palmer Divide. Foothills may get 1-4" in spots, best chances in Boulder/Larimer county foothills
Also will be turning windy again across much of the state both on Sat afternoon / evening (ahead of the front) and also on Sun afternoon (as the front comes through) with west to northwest wind-gusts of 20-50 mph
First image shows forecast wind-gusts at 2pm today from latest HRRR. Second image shows the Red Flag Warning from Den/Bou NWS office.
