A look ahead at the nice spring weather expected this week

04/06/25 10:30am: Happy Sunday! Its a gorgeous spring day along the front-range and across the mountains. Just got back from a little morning walk with my daughter and the views are spectacular with the fresh snow covered peaks and the green leaves/grass emerging on the front-range. Spring is in the air and we are setup for a warmer (and drier) spring-like pattern over the next week.

In terms of the weather for this week, basically going to be dry for the next 7-8 days and turn very warm by the end of this week into the weekend. Overall themes:

• Nice and sunny and seasonably warm today through Tue

• It will start turning windy over the Front Range mountains and foothills on Tue afternoon

• Models show a weak short-wave passing north of CO on Wed into Thu...this will push in some slightly cooler air and producing stronger wind across our region

• Turning windy over parts of the mountains and front-range (Den/Bou) on both Wed and Thu (wind-gusts of 30-60 mph)

• Cooler on Thu (highs back into the low 60s for Den/Bou, 40s for mountains)

• Then a big ridge of high pressure will move in for Fri-Sun next weekend with some very warm temps: near/above 80 for Den/Bou on Fri-Sun and in the 60s in the mountains (some wind at times but not too bad)

• Looking ahead, next colder storm system may arrive in northern CO around next Sunday night (04/13) into Monday (04/14), could be a decent shot of snow for the mountains

• Maybe a cold-front for the front-range next Sun night into Mon but uncertainty is high

• So basically warmer and drier for the next 1 week

Fourth image loop shows the evolution of the pattern over the next 9 days via 500mb height anomalies from latest GFS, take with grain of salt (static image show the big ridge of high pressure next Sat, 04/12).
