48hr rain reports with more rain on the way for Fri and Sat

Sep 12, 2025

09/12/25 8:30am: Morning, happy Friday. Lots of rain and thunderstorms moving into southwest CO right now as expected with some good rain totals in that area over the last 2 days. Some rain reports first.

Below I show 48hr observed rainfall from MRMS along with top 24h reports from CoCoRaHS. Much of south-central / southwest CO has picked up 0.40" to 1.50" of rain in the last 2 days.

Further north, much more spotty amounts, parts of the north-central mountains have picked up 0.05" to 0.25" in the last 2 days.

And for the front-range, not much: generally < 0.10" for the urban corridor with 0.10" to 0.40" in/near the foothills (including near Boulder) over the last 2 days.

But much more rain is on the way, as I mentioned best chances for heavier rain for north-central CO and the front-range will come this afternoon into Sat and also Sat afternoon / evening.

Here are some notable 24hr reports:

Pagosa Springs 5.8 SSE: 0.99"
Kremmling 9.1 WNW: 0.93"
Crested Butte 6.2 N: 0.75"
Paonia 1.5 N: 0.61"
Salida 1.9 NNW: 0.60"
Durango 2.7 NNE: 0.48"
Silverton 0.3 WSW: 0.45"
Creede 3.3 SSW: 0.41"
Montrose 1.8 WSW: 0.38"
Boulder 3.5 S: 0.36"
Gypsum 3.2 SE: 0.35"
Edwards 1.3 WNW: 0.23"
Silverthorne 2.1 WSW: 0.10"

I'll have a forecast update soon, but for the north-central mountains good rain / thunderstorm chances today from 12pm-9pm, turning wet in spots

For Den/Bou and the front-range: scattered storms from 1pm-10pm (best chances 3pm-8pm), turning wet in spots.

Another heavy round of rain and thunderstorms (and snow above 12k) expected tomorrow, generally from 11am-9pm (best chances 2pm-7pm Sat for mountains and front-range).

First image shows 48hr rainfall from MRMS. Second image shows 48hr reports from CoCoRaHS. Third image shows top 24hr reports form CoCoRaHS. Fourth image loop shows current sub-regional satellite/radar overlay with the rain moving over western / southwestern CO now.

How are conditions at your house this morning? How much rain did you get in the last 2 days. Can you see any snow on the high-peaks near your? Post some pics of snow.
